I hate to say it but nothing really will every replace working. Sure you might get lucky and get a few big real estate deals to make a decent living working only 20 or 30 hours a week.
But buyers and sellers like real estate agents that they can talk to after 5 or on weekends. I see so many agents that won't do that even though they are struggling. Am I a superstar ?.... I would say not. I'm just a real estate agent that isn't afraid of putting in the hours. Sure I am working to hard right now. But the way metro Detroit economy is I need too.
So my opinion is whether you are a real estate agent or any other person trying to make it in this economy.... it takes more than 30 or 40 hours to make it sometimes. You need to do what it takes even if it means longer hours or doing something you have never had to do before.

Wow...I can't imagine not working on the weekends! It definitely comes with the terrirory!
Hello Russ, there have been other posts this week about agents and lenders moonlighting at other jobs or just plain taking other jobs. We'd rather put in the extra hours into our real estate business and be able to confidently tell our clients we are full-time agents -- in this market our clients appreciate that and understand it's no cake-walk right now! We may have odd hours...but the flexibility of the job makes being a realtor A++ in my book! :)
Work is from the minute we wake up in the morning until we lay down at night...but then I'm the obssessive type!
Well said.... I'm always at work... WHO stops in this business, for if you DO sell something, you need another to replace it! You are speaking for us all!
