I read a blog about somebody getting 500 friends. They were adding real estate agents that commented on their posts. I myself see facebook in a different way. I myself have never been a hard sell real estate agent. I don't call my friends for leads. I don't ask them for business.
I look at Facebook that way too. I guess I'm there for friends. A way to stay in contact with old friends, long distance family, business acquaintances, and clients. I honestly like you all out there but I don't want to have the majority of my friends as real estate agents.
I don't want facebook to be about real estate all the time. I don't want to jam real estate down friends and families throats. I want to be normal. Real estate is just one part of my life. If I just talk about real estate when it is relevant then it fine. But I want to hear about what people are doing. What their garden like. Your true personality comes out when you communicate on facebook. That's what I love about facebook.

"helping make your move easier"
your local Metro Detroit Realtor helping clients like you sell and buy homes through out the entire Metro Detroit suburbs. I love showing and selling Oakland County and Livingston County Lake front homes too.
Russ - I agree. I have a separate tab on my wall page for my real estate profile. I try to keep a nice balance. We are in the relationship business, and it's hard to have a relationship with someone who keeps shoving listings and their own business down your throat all the time. A relationship requires a personal connection as well. Thanks for the post!
Good call....love the distinctions you've made. Very appropriate.
Russ,
I agree with you when you try to avoid mixing buisness with friends. If it comes so be it but I try to avoid it as much as possible. My person preference too. I do keep to differrent facebook pages, personal and business.
Russ, I agree with you completely. Thanks and have a great day.
I'm with you Russ. I have family, friends, clients and just a few colleagues as Facebook friends. It has been really neat having my clients as I'm able to see what they are up to without having to send just emails or updates every few months.
Hello Russ, Jim and Heather did a nice webinar on this topic last month, and it turns out that Facebook can terminate a person's account if they use their main section to promote their business. Separate Fan Pages are to be set up and used for business musings and such. One vendor to the real estate industry got banned because all of his friends were Realtors! John
Like most people commented, I too have 2 separate pages, one for business and one for personal.
