3 Metro Detroit cities make the top 100 safest cities in the US

Canton MI is the 24th safest community in the United States with Troy ranking 22nd.  Other Michigan communities in the top 50 include Farmington Hills, Ann Arbor, Livonia, and Sterling Heights, . An independent for-profit company has issued its 2007 safest communities list for the United States.  The company utilizes F.B.I. crime statistics to determine its rankings.

Over the years, Canton has been in the top 50 on numerous occasions.  Based on statistics reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Canton was the one of the nation's safest municipality with a population over 75,000 during 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.   Creating and maintaining a safe community is a tribute to the staff of Canton's Police Department and the involvement of Canton residents engaging in crime prevention behaviors.

Comparing Canton to the rest of Metro Detroit, Canton was lowest in property crimes with 18 victims per 1,000 residents and was lowest in violent crimes with 1 victim per 1,000 residents.  Great crime statistics for home buyers with families and safety in mind.

This is one of the great reason to look at homes in Canton and to investigate Canton Township if you are moving within Michigan or have a Michigan relocation in your future.   Feel free to call or email me anytime.

I was based in Farmington Hills back in 1994 when I was a consultant to Nextel Communications helping them build out their Michigan cell phone network. Every morning when I arrived for work, I had to drive one mile per hour through thousands of Canada geese. I thought they were the neatest birds, but I know many Michiganders and Michigeese don't like their Canada cousins -- LOL.
